CLUBS

Scratch golfers are visionaries. Their minds master the course like a Rubik’s Cube. Each factor—wind, pin placement, yardage, break— is processed. As thoughts formulate and calculations are solved, all the colors are seamlessly aligned, then the golfer strikes. THWACK!

TRAVEL

Terravista Golf Course To Californians it’s Pebble Beach. To Georgians it’s Augusta. Each state has its pearl, that one course golfers wait their whole lives to play. For some it’s the history—reading the same green where Tiger captured his first major victory.

TRAVEL

Whose hands laid these stones? I thought. Whose shadow cast like mine? On the first night in Salvador, the answer came while standing in its nucleus—Pelourinho.

DAILY BREAD

America’s embracement of multiculturalism is seen in its new cutlery. Chopsticks, skewers, miso soup spoons and even naan bread now accompany the fork, spoon and dull-to-the-touch knife.

OTHER EQUIPMENT

Get some swings in before your next tee time. Callaway has done it again. The golfing giant has scored another hole-in-one with the Callaway Golf Quad 8ft. Square Hitting Net. This remarkable product is a great way for you toimprove your swing mechanics.

WATCHES

Aptly named for a notable thoroughfare in an equally distinct town, Gevril’s Avenue of the Americas Mini 316L is a mightily endowed miniature timepiece.

DRILLS

Let’s face it, most of us can walk the walk. We stalk the golf course like Tiger with a wide gape and an eagle-eyed intensity, well, because Tiger does. We waggle and reposition our hands countless times like Sergio, well, because Sergio does. You get the point.

FEATURE

American Airlines Our overall diversity strategy is one of integration. From a human resource perspective we pay attention to the representation of minorities and women, and cultural sensitivity instruction is also critical for American Airlines.

FEATURE

Family stories are passed down from generation to generation. With each telling, brief tales grow into extended hyperboles. The hill your uncle climbed every morning on his way to school somehow transformed into a mountain five years later.

SMOKE RINGS

What makes the smoke shop so appealing to your customers?  We have done quite a few venues and everyone said, “There is no place to smoke.” When you walk into an average smoke shop and you see people sitting around in folding chairs watching one TV, it’s kind of a cliquish thi

FASHION

Tracy Reese’s clothes tell a story. They remind you of the time you crept into your mother’s room, rummaged through her trunk full of enchanting threads and covered yourself in pearls and all things lace.

ART

To his loyal fans he is the Dadaist of the moment, an innovator of today’s counter-culture. For others, most notably the NYPD, he is the vandal who desecrates public space with his art. People’s champion or public enemy number one, it is impossible to overlook James De La Vega.

FEATURE

Sports psychologist, Dr. Bob Rotella’s most notable book is titled, “Golf is Not a Game of Perfect.” So why do many parents expect perfection from their sons or daughters? Golfers Michelle Wie, Ty Tyron and Morgan Pressel have all accomplished monumental feats at a young age.

IN THE SPIRIT

Aggressive diplomacy. What better balm for today’s geo-political discord? Especially if it comes in the form of a double barrel gun case filled with Ardbeg Single Malt Scotch Whiskey. Who wouldn’t want to show up to a dicey negotiation with a hand-made bespoke leather gun case?

STRIVERS & DRIVERS

DWIGHT RAIFORD MetLife Senior Financial Planner Why did you decide to found the Harlem Little League? We got involved with Harlem Little League rather selfishly. Our, then, 7-year old son came home from school one day and said that he wanted to play baseball.

LPGA SPOTLIGHT

Very few athletes can make the jump from high school to the pros. Fourth ranked woman golfer in the world, Paula Creamer, joins superstar athletes LeBron James and Kobe Bryant as exceptions to the rule. She has dominated the amateur circuit.

HEALTH & FITNESS

Fat. Is it good, is it bad? Saturated or unsaturated? It’s impossible to ignore our obsession with weight. In a nation where approximately 127 million are overweight, the discussion of healthy eating habits and dietary supplements has become all too familiar.

SHOWROOM

In 1957 pioneering Ferrari designer, Sergio Scagliettie, had American asphalt on his mind. The 250 gt ferrari california, the first of its pedigree manufactured specifically for US distribution, was the scintillating realization of Scagliettie’s daydreams.

COLLEGE GOLF

Cheyenne Woods is not your typical college freshman. Sure, she goes to class, crams for mid-terms and deals with the rigors of balancing a full course load while playing collegiate golf at Wake Forest University. But there is one minor detail that makes this Demon Deacon stand out.

THE DEAL

The Player: Stanley Pine Owner of Hampton Hills Golf Club West Hampton Beach, Long Island The Scenario: Hampton Hills Golf Club How long have you owned Hampton Hills? My partner, Barry Biel, and I bought Hampton Hills Golf Club approximately 23 years ago.

MY FIRST TIME

When I first got into the League a lot of guys were playing. My mind-set was that golf was an old man’s game. But when I made the 1995 Pro Bowl in Hawaii, I was at the pool looking for all of the guys and everybody was at the golf course. So I figured I’d better pick up the game.

SABERS AND SALVATION

The Peter Westbrook Foundation is quite possibly the most successful and influential program of its kind in the country. Since its inception, PWF has seen thousands of inner-city kids come through its doors to learn the art and sport of fencing.
