The Green Magazine sweeps longest drive competition!!

Premier Scotch Whiskey, John Dewar & Sons teamed up with Callaway Golf to co-host its third annual Dewar’s Diablo Longest Drive Charity Competition Wed. June 24 at New York City’s Chelsea Piers. New York was one of the eight key markets to host the event, which unveiled Dewar’s latest member of its catalogue, the award-winning 18 Founder’s Reserve, and Callaway Golf’s massive Diablo driver. Twenty competitors faired the day’s rainy forecast to enjoy an evening of Dewar’s specialty cocktails, hor’dourves and a few gos with Callaway’s Diablo driver. Participants were allotted three drives in front of a Robert Trent Jones simulated hole. After a few loosening drinks, players moseyed up to take their shot at the $5,000 grand prize for the charity of their choice. The mark was set at 227 yards as the first golfer left the tee. But it didn’t take long to shatter that record. Second up was TGM’s Senior Staff Writer, Naimah Jabali-Nash. Swinging out of her flip-flops, Jabali-Nash posted a drive of 293 yards, positioning her in first place—but not for long. After a few more golfers took their whack at it, TGM photographer, Ryan Kobane, set up at the tee. Blasting his first drive at 277 yards, Kobane had some more left in the tank. And on his second drive he made flush contact and toppled the field, bombing the ball 317 yards to take home the grand prize. Kobane donated $5,000 to Surfrider Foundation and took home a Callaway Diablo driver, while Jabali-Nash, finishing second, walked away with a Callaway staff bag. The evening served up the perfect blend of fine Scotch, and competitive juices, with a splash of charity. Congratulations to The Green!
