Living It Up, Down South

Chateau Elan remains the Gem of Georgia.

The Chateau Elan is one of the many getaways in the great state of Georgia, but its host of luxuries places it in a category all unto itself. Minutes outside of Atlanta, the Chateau Elan offers the amenities giving you only the best from the moment of your arrival. The staff at the Chateau believes that there is always room for improvement. Since we featured the Chateau over four years ago, vital changes have been made to this tranquil hub of leisure.

The Dave Pelz Golf School is a new and welcomed addition to the golfing element at the Chateau. Led by Dave Pelz, the school is geared towards strengthening your short game (chipping, distance wedge, pitching and sand play) and putting that usually account to 60-65 percent of your shots per round. Once you’ve mastered your new skills at the famed School, play a few rounds on the Woodlands and Legends courses. For a worthwhile stay at the Chateau, we suggest that you partake in the Energize Package. The options are limitless and every choice is worth every penny.

The Chateau recently embarked upon a $10 million enhancement to the main hotel including the public areas, restaurant lounges and all guest rooms. “Every guest room turned out very nice,” says Doug Rollins, Vice President of Sales at Chateau Elan. “We’ve been getting compliments on them by the guests who’ve stay recently and we’re very pleased.” The enhancement also includes $1 million dollar renovation to the already exquisite spa adding a third special treatment room due to the enormous popularity. The a la carte services of a dry sauna, wet eucalyptus steam, whirlpool and fitness classes will further the individual and couples spa treatment experience. Relaxation is not the only way Chateau Elan provokes and entices your senses.

The Culinary Studio provides a hands-on tutorial of how to prepare some of the world most unique dishes instructed by the Chateau’s Executive Chef Marc Suennemann. Every month presents guests with a new international cuisine. Previous epicurean specialties include Thai, German, French and Spanish just to name a few. In addition to learning new recipes, take part in the Chateau Elan Wine Tasting Tour. The Tour is a must for any connoisseur. Chateau Elan boasts 22 varietals including Merlot, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. The newest addition to the wine list is the Scarlet. This lovely Shiraz grape blend offers a vibrant bouquet of notes to send your palate gone with the wind. If you prefer to be catered to, then the Chateau Elan will gracious provide. Fine dinning is high on the list upon your arrival. From All-American to Classic French, Irish to Mediterranean and even a bevy of healthy selections from the spa menu are at your fingertips.

Chateau Elan’s spares no expense when giving the best experience to their guests. From its accessibility to the cornucopia of ways to play and relax, makes Chateau Elan our number one choice for your holiday getaway.

The scaffold awning deflects the late summer sun away from the white front door of Al Johnson’s art studio. The tattered veneer resembles one of the many gutted warehouses found at the crosshairs of 126th and 127th Streets on Harlem’s west side. There are no trendy signs to attract business or large bay windows displaying his work to catch the attention of wandering pedestrians.      I arrived in Morocco on an April morning after a long but pleasant flight from Qatar. As the terminal in Casablanca filled with the morning’s soft golden haze I felt as if I had traveled back in time. To be precise it felt like I had traveled back to the 1960s (or at least the version of the 1960s that existed in my mind after years of absorbing several archived portraits of pop culture, both conscious and unconsciously). The set up was compact and minimal with long hallways and low ceilings.
